Our Offer

Transport is responsible for around a quarter of energy-related CO2 emissions worldwide. To achieve the Paris climate targets, a transport transition and extensive decarbonisation of transport by 2050 is necessary. Among other projects in the GIZ’s transport cluster, The Mobilize Net Zero project supports governments in their commitment to decarbonise transport through building international partnerships. By facilitating knowledge exchange and peer learning as well as by raising awareness among policy makers, the project aims to accelerate the transition towards sustainable transport systems. The project is funded through the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN). We are looking for a dedicated and creative intern with hands-on mentality and digital affinity, who will support us with external and internal communication and event planning. Convince us with your creative application!

Your tasks

During the internship, you will carry out the following tasks: 

  • Creating, curating, and maintaining engaging content for the changing-transport.org website, social media channels, and newsletters
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of our flagship online event, Transport and Climate Change Week 2026, as well as other digital events — gaining hands-on experience in communications, programme design, and participant management
  • Contributing to editorial planning and developing content for a wide range of online and print communication products, including articles and publications
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of creative online communication and advocacy campaigns
  • Supporting internal knowledge management by organising, structuring, and maintaining information and resources
  • Taking on additional ad-hoc tasks related to the promotion of sustainable mobility and zero-emission transport solutions

Your Profile

  • You are studying and/or have a degree (at least basic studies / Bachelor) in event management, media, communications, environmental, political, or social sciences, urban planning, or any othera related field.
  • You are excited about development policy and have a basic understanding of the challenges the transport sector faces in emerging and developing countries and/or knowledge of international climate policy and approaches to mitigating greenhouse-gas emissions in the transport sector.
  • You have a high degree of digital affinity and enjoy working with social media.
  • You can implement creative ideas in an efficient, independent, and solution-oriented manner.
  • You have great organisational and time-management skills and enjoy being part of the preparation and implementation of events in new, partly digital formats with a hands-on mentality.
  • You have very good written and spoken English language skills (German and other language skills are an advantage).
  • You have a very good sense of language and are adept at writing and editing texts. You enjoy writing.
  • You are experienced in using Office programmes (especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel); knowledge of design programmes such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is an advantage.
  • You enjoy working in an international and multidisciplinary team and have a good sense of for intercultural and target-group oriented communication.
