The objective of the City Climate Finance Gap Fund (Gap Fund), a global partnership comprising two multi-donor trust funds administered by the World Bank and the European Investment Bank (EIB) respectively. The EIB’s activities under the Gap Fund are implemented with support from GIZ GmbH. The Gap Fund supports cities worldwide in preparing concrete infrastructure investments that contribute to climate change adaptation and/or mitigation. These investments projects span sectors such as transport, energy, water, green spaces, urban infrastructure and waste management. The GIZ programme Support for Project Preparation for Urban Progress (SuPPUrbP) supports the management of the Gap Fund operations and provides technical assistance (TA) to cities and/or other project developers during the pre-feasibility stage of infrastructure investments. The TA activities are implemented upon request in low and middle-income countries in Africa, Latin America, European Neighbourhood Countries, Asia and the Pacific.
