In times of multiple and overlapping crises, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) attributes high importance to the development of inclusive and adaptive social protection systems. GIZ’s global programme “Global Alliances for Social Protection” supports this endeavor through work on the digital transformation and standard setting for interoperability in social protection through the Digital Convergence Initiative (DCI), which is also co-funded by the European Union.

Launched in 2021, the DCI:
• Facilitates knowledge sharing on digital social protection systems at a global level
• Builds consensus on technical standards to enable data exchange between digital systems in the social protection delivery chain and with external digital databases
• Supports countries in their digital transformation journeys
• Provides capacity development and training

As part of your internship, your tasks will include the following:

  • Support the various communications platforms and tools being used by DCI (website, social media, newsletter, etc)
  • Develop communications products such as impact stories, videos, flyers, PPTs, etc.
  • Support the implementation of the DCI communications strategy
  • Supporting the organisation and follow-up of virtual and physical events
  • Contribute to knowledge products and knowledge management on digital transformation and digital social protection
  • Support with project management, M&E and data analytics
  • Support in reporting, editing and layout of reports, studies and other papers
  • General administrative/organisational support as required

Your Profile

  • Current student in digital media/communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or another related field
  • Familiarity with website and content management systems (WordPress) and, graphic design tools, and other other digital tools is a plus
  • Strong interest in communications, knowledge management processes and data analytics
  • Strong organisational skills
  • High quality written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent MS-Office skills
  • Excellent English skills are required. German, French, or Spanish is an advantage
