Civil Peace Service (CPS) Advisor (m/f/d) for Youth Work

The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. In Jordan, the GIZ-CPS aims to strengthen the ability of civil society actors to engage in dialogue and to promote non-violent conflict transformation. The overall goal is to contribute to social cohesion and to enable people - especially refugees and vulnerable groups in host communities, as well as youth and women - to shape their lives with a perspective for the future. The partner organization „Hopes for Training, Education and Development” is a civil society organization that works in a refugee camp in Jerash for displaced people from Gaza to support the personal and professional development of young people to strengthen their role in community life and the labor market. The development worker will be working directly with the Hopes team in Jerash and support youth in their role development as youth workers. Additionally, she/he will build up sustainable capacities among staff and volunteers to design and implement arts-based and psychosocial support-informed activities, and to further strengthen existing initiatives in close collaboration with the community they serve.

• Support Hopes in the planning and implementation of dialogue-oriented and conflict-transformative activities with children, youth, and community groups, fostering non-violent communication and collaborative problem-solving
• Provide guidance and capacity building on the use of creative, arts-based methodologies (e.g. theatre, music, visual arts, storytelling) that strengthen peacebuilding, inclusive expression, and community engagement; assist in developing replicable modules and tools for youth workers
• Advise Hopes on integrating psychosocial wellbeing components into youth work to strengthen resilience and coping strategies in contexts marked by stress, hopelessness, and escalated conflict; support the sustainable embedding of these approaches within existing programmes
• Facilitate participatory reflection and planning processes with Hopes and local communities to ensure that all approaches remain context-sensitive and inclusive of diverse socio-economic, cultural, and refugee camp realities
• Support Hopes in coordinating and expanding activities beyond Gaza Camp in cooperation with other actors across Jordan, contributing to breaking down stereotypes, fostering inclusive identities, and promoting social cohesion between diverse communities
• Contribute to the joint development of project concepts and implementation plans under a Local Contribution Contract (LCC) with Hopes, and assist in establishing effective monitoring, reflection, and learning mechanisms

• University degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Social Work, Social Studies, Migrant and Refugee Studies) or comparable professional experience
• Several years of experience in youth or social work, informal education, and/or community-based organizations
• Proven experience with creative and participatory methods for youth engagement; ideally in setting up peer-to-peer structures and applying arts-based approaches, e.g. theatre, music, visual arts, storytelling for peacebuilding
• Skilled in facilitating capacity building workshops and supporting community-led project or activity design
• Knowledge of conflict transformation, dialogue facilitation, and non-violent communication; experience in resilience-building and psychosocial support (PSS) is an asset
• Intercultural sensitivity and experience in development cooperation, ideally in an Arab-Islamic context; strong awareness of diversity, inclusion, and hardship
• Resilient, reflective, and team-oriented, with strong communication and self-management skills; Confident with digital tools
• Business fluent in English; Arabic skills are an advantage, motivation to learn essential
