Job description

The GIZ project “AI Hub for Social Protection of the DCI” aims to support countries in responsibly adopting AI technologies for enhanced inclusive, efficient and effective social protection systems, while focusing on mitigating associated risks. The AI Hub works within four action areas and pursues its mission through (i) creating and sharing knowledge products with and through a sector-wide global expert network, (ii) advising social protection institutions in designing, implementing and governing responsible AI systems and strategies, (iii)  developing AI DPGs in SP (Digital Public Goods) as well as standards and guidelines, (iv) conducting capacity building around AI and data literacy for the SP context through the creation of learning materials and online trainings targeting social protection practitioners.

 

The AI Hub for Social Protection is an endeavor of the Digital Convergence Initiative (DCI) since 2025. The DCI was launched in 2021 under the umbrella of the Global Partnership for Universal Social Protection (USP2030), with a view to harmonization and standardization of the digital ecosystem in social protection. The DCI is coordinated by GIZ in partnership with Expertise France (EF), the Spanish International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), and the International Labour Organization (ILO). Under the DCI structure, the AI Hub supports countries in navigating the rapidly evolving landscape of AI while promoting the principles of responsible, innovative and sovereign AI adoption.

Your tasks

As an intern, you will be part of the AI Hub Project Management Team (PMO) and support the team in internal and external communication activities. You will have the following tasks, among others:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of the AI Hub’s communication strategy
  • Helping to establish communication platforms and tools (website, social media channels, newsletters, etc.)
  • Developing and editing communication products such as impact stories, videos, flyers, PowerPoint presentations, and social media content
  • Assisting in the preparation and facilitation of virtual meetings, webinars, and workshops with international partners
  • Supporting the review, editing, and layout of knowledge products on AI in social protection
  • Providing general organizational and administrative support as needed

Your profile

  • Current student in communications, digital media, international development, social sciences, or a related field
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with attention to detail and visual consistency
  • First experience or strong interest in digital communication and content creation (e.g. social media, visual design, video editing, or copywriting)
  • Familiarity with topics such as digital transformation, AI, or data-driven technologies in the development context is an advantage
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency in MS Office (knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or Canva is a plus)
  • Excellent English skills (spoken and written); knowledge of German, French, or Spanish is an asset
