Job description

GIZ International Services (InS) is the company’s business unit that provides services to international clients such as the European Commission, EIB and other donors. Beyond its core mandate of supporting the German Federal Government in bilateral development cooperation, GIZ also delivers results-oriented services on the international market through InS, drawing on its extensive expertise and experience. GIZ International Services office in Brussels prepares and implements large projects financed by different donors on diverse topics focusing on global facilities and global impact. Main sectors of interventions include Climate change, energy, sustainable finance and economic development.

Your tasks

You will carry out the following tasks during the internship:

  • Supporting the acquisition process for international tenders (administrative tasks, research, partner identification etc.)
  • Preparing background papers, presentations, and concept notes
  • Assisting in project implementation, monitoring, and reporting
  • Maintaining databases, partner contacts, and project documentation
  • Supporting knowledge management and communication tasks
  • Assisting with administrative and logistical tasks related to InS operations in Brussels

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or master’s program in international relations, political science, economics, development studies, business administration, or related fields
  • Political sensitivity and good understanding of development policy issues and the objectives of German development cooperation
  • High interest in international cooperation and development
  • Basic knowledge of monitoring and evaluation in development cooperation
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • German and/or French fluency is considered a strong asset
  • Good knowledge of common MS Office programmes; good working knowledge of MS Lists and MS SharePoint is an advantage
  • Good drafting skills:
  • Flexible and detail oriented
  • Proactive and team player mindset able to work under pressure
  • Sound conceptual skills with analytical and innovative thinking
  • Experience in AI platforms use is considered an asset

Please be informed that you are only allowed to apply for this internship, if you are currently enrolled as a student or graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of your internship. Candidates must also hold a Belgian work permit, which in case of non-EU nationality must be uploaded when applying. GIZ will neither cover costs nor apply for work permits for internships.


We pay a monthly stipend of €1.350,- (gross). Please note that the contract will be concluded under Belgian law.
