Job description

The demands on companies and their business partners to respect human rights and environmental standards are increasing. To support partner countries in effectively implementing the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the European Commission and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) have launched the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) 'Sustainability in Global Value Chains'. As part of the TEI, employees will contribute to setting up and providing advisory services of the 'EU Due Diligence Navigator’, through which stakeholders from partner countries can receive free, individualized advice and recommendations for suitable support measures from the Navigator experts. The expertise of the Navigator’s advisors in human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) and in collaboration with actors in partner countries will be used to advise the partner countries on how to become 'fit for CSDDD' and for related EU regulations. In the development phase of the Navigator, extensive outreach and communication is necessary to reach the target groups of the Navigator in partner countries. We are looking for an intern (m/f/d) for the EU Due Diligence Navigator and the TEI secretariat supporting in communication, outreach and event management.

Your tasks

During your internship you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Supporting communications and outreach efforts, working closely with the senior and junior communications and Monitoring & Evaluation advisors
  • Independently creating drafts of communication products and background information on the EU Due Diligence Navigator to promote the helpdesk to cooperation partners and the helpdesk's target groups
  • Support in the organisation of in-person events and online webinars
  • Support in the development of the content and design of the Due Diligence Navigator website
  • Preparation of success stories and testimonials of users of the Due Diligence Navigator
  • Participating in and documentation of events and meetings with national and international cooperation partners

Your profile

  • University degree in communication, media, journalism, social sciences or a similar subject (at least 4th semester)
  • Initial work experience in external communication and public relations in governmental organisations, NGOs, companies, business associations or consulting firms (e.g. through internships) is an advantage
  • (Basic) knowledge of topics, processes and actors in the areas of business and human rights, corporate responsibility (RBC/CSR) and/or sustainable supply chain management is an advantage
  • Excellent writing skills and conceptual and analytical thinking as well as an independent, structured way of working
  • Interest in policy-relevant issues (e.g. at EU level) and strong argumentation skills
  • High level of communication and teamwork skills
  • High degree of proactivity and motivation
  • Confident handling of MS Office
  • Business fluency in English, fluency in German and another language (especially French or Spanish) is an advantage
