Job description

In the buildings and construction sector, all trends are pointing upwards with dramatic consequences for the climate. The Partnership for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (PEEB, www.peeb.build) aims to accelerate the transition to a zero-emission and resilient built environment. PEEB provides financing solutions for construction and renovation projects with a high climate impact potential, and targeted policy advice and capacity-building to improve the framework conditions for such projects. In its three programmes – PEEB Cool, PEEB Med, and PEEB ASEAN – the Partnership works closely with governments in 21 partner countries, as well as financial institutions and the private sector. PEEB is implemented by the French development bank Agence Française de Développement (AFD), GIZ, and the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME). The PEEB Secretariat at the AFD headquarters in Paris and GIZ in Bonn coordinates its activities. At the international level, PEEB works closely with the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC).

Your tasks

During your internship you will have the following tasks:

  • Meetings and events: Support of PEEB’s participation, including the climate conferences and other international energy meetings; organisation of webinars; PEEB donor meetings
  • Studies and information: Research on Green Buildings for PEEB publications (e.g., NDCs, financing through Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, gender inclusivity in buildings and construction, calculating emissions from buildings and construction); preparation of presentations or background documents; preparation of news articles for the website
  • Knowledge management: Collecting and presenting knowledge from the GIZ network and externally for the global community, in close coordination with GlobalABC
  • Communication and PR: Presentation of the project and its results through social media, website, communication materials; working with the PEEB team and external consultants
  • Project implementation: Supporting team members with programme- or country-specific requests, including the preparation of standard services to be delivered

Your profile

We are looking for analytic thinking, excellent writing skills, social media affinity and creativity, and a passion for the built environment.

  • Study, ideally with a focus on energy efficiency, climate and sustainability in buildings, climate and environment, urban planning, or communications for sustainability
  • Knowledge of international energy and climate challenges in the buildings sector; basic knowledge about development cooperation
  • Experience with social media, graphic design or communications is an asset
  • Team player, proactive and curious self-starter
  • Excellent language skills in English are required; knowledge of French and German is an asset
