Job description

Developing capacities for implementation of compliance and due diligence measures in sustainable supply chains in accordance with the "Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz" and European standards.

Your tasks

  • Elaborate methodological proposals or technical inputs for capacity development in the implementation of compliance and due diligence tools in supply chains
  • Exchange knowledge and best practices on compliance and due diligence in supply chains based on the German law "Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz" and European regulations, considering Ecuadorian standards
  • Develop documents and products for the dissemination of concepts and instruments of compliance and due diligence in supply chains
  • Coordinate and contribute to the implementation of private sector projects in Ecuador in cooperation with the German Cooperation GIZ

Your profile

  • Academic degree in law, political science, management science, economics or related fields
  • Additional studies in due diligence, compliance, supply chains
  • Studies in environmental management including ICT database management would be an asset
  • Working experience in the implementation of international best practices and regulations in compliance and supply chain due diligence based on the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) and other European standards
  • Working experience in corporate strategic planning in the private sector
  • Working experience in training and consulting processes for the private sector
  • Ability to work as part of a team, intercultural relations with different actors in Ecuadorian society
  • Business fluent in Spanish and English or German

The work will take place in Quito, capital of Ecuador, within the Association of Flower Exporters of Ecuador (EXPLOFLORES).
EXPLOFLORES is the most important national association in Ecuador for the Ecuadorian flower sector, which aims to represent, offer services and provide added value to its member companies in order to position Ecuadorian flower exports in the world. 

The security situation is tense. Tailored security risk mitigation measures are in place for GIZ staff in country. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. Please also check the county-specific information provided by the German Federal Foreign Office. GIZ runs a professional security risk management system in the field of deployment. The freedom of movement is restricted. It is not possible for life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment.

Please note that this position is a short term position! Only candidates can be considered who had already a minimum of 1 year contract as a development worker according to the Entwicklungshelfergesetz (EhfG).

Willingness to travel on a regular basis is required.

The actual departure date depends on the visa and entry regulations of the country of assignment.

The project vehicle can also be used for personal trips with your manager’s approval.
