Job description

The Mitigation Action Facility is a multi-donor climate protection programme. It is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, the European Commission and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation to support developing countries in implementing ambitious GHG mitigation actions. Donors have already committed more than EUR 826 million for the implementation of 11 open competitive Calls for Projects. GIZ is implementing the Mitigation Action Facility including the operation of the Technical Support Unit (TSU) as a secretariat. The TSU implements Calls for projects,and is responsible for monitoring, evaluation, reporting, knowledge management and communication. More information on www.mitigation-action.org

Your tasks

You will carry out the following tasks during the internship: 

  • Support the advisory services of the TSU to Donors, projects, and potential applicants
  • Support the monitoring and reporting activities of the Mitigation Action Facility
  • Support review and consolidation of data for later migration to a digital solution for storing and retrieving project management and monitoring related data
  • Assist the TSU team in conducting workshops and meetings with external experts and drafting inputs for presentations
  • Support regular team meetings and meetings with Donors
  • Ad hoc assignments and support to the TSU team

Your profile

  • Academic background: economics, finance, IT, engineering, or similar (at least successfully completed Bachelor’s degree)
  • Professional/academic experience in IT, financing and/or development cooperation
  • Proficiency in entering data accurately and validating it against predefined rules
  • Practical experience in database management and quantitative analysis
  • Very familiar handling the MS Office package, especially MS Excel, and an eye for detail is a strong asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strategic thinking
  • Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is a must, French, Spanish or German advantageous
