Job description
You will make a sustainable contribution to supporting civil society in Madagascar through successful component management of Fanainga+ in the project "Poverty-Oriented Municipal Development and Decentralization". Key elements of the component leadership include providing technical and strategic leadership, coordinating a diverse team across 5 sites in Madagascar, and ensuring quality and sustainability in technical advice to civil society organizations at the national, regional, and local levels.
ProDéCID supports partner communities in working together with civil society and government institutions for effective local development. The goal of Fanainga+ with multi-donor co-funding and 25 professionals is an engaged, influential, independent and resilient civil society working for democratic and inclusive governance, social and political participation, civil rights and the sustainable well-being of the population.
Your tasks
- You are responsible for ensuring the quality, further development and, if necessary, adaptation of the implementation strategy and the instruments for capacity building of civil society organizations.
- You will lead six specialists and team managers in accordance with the company's management philosophy and ensure an appreciative management culture.
- You ensure the implementation of a sustainable procurement concept for the financing of civil society organizations.
- You advise civil society networks and national civil society organizations on reviewing their strategies and approaches with a focus on their independence, resilience and responsiveness, and improving their impact.
- You will promote an approach to strengthen the voice of civil society and assist in creating spaces for dialogue with government and other key stakeholders; where appropriate, you will moderate these dialogues.
- You develop and facilitate a pilot approach to building social entrepreneurship in Madagascar.
- You will manage the knowledge management and monitoring of the component and implement the communication strategy agreed with the other donors.
- You prepare regular steering meetings with the four donors of the component and prepare the annual reporting.
Your profile
- University degree in political science, social science or economics, with special focus on decentralization, civil society promotion, human rights or similar
- Several years of relevant professional experience in the field of decentralization and/or civil society promotion and/or political participation; professional experience in developing or emerging countries is an advantage
- At least five years of concrete implementation and work experience in or with civil society organizations
- Consulting experience with social entrepreneurship would be an advantage
- Ability to think and act strategically and analytically, or to grasp things quickly and have an eye for the essentials
- Commitment, team spirit, reliability, diplomatic skills, gender competence and intercultural understanding
- At least three years of experience in managing complex (intercultural) teams
- Business fluent in French and fluent in German or English
